Overexpression of LIPG reduces HDL cholesterol levels, while deficiency elevates HDL levels in animal models.
LIPG exhibits significant phospholipase activity and contributes to lipoprotein metabolism and vascular biology.
It is part of the TG lipase family, characterized by a lid region that confers substrate specificity.
