Target Information
The activation of gene transcription is a multistep process triggered by transcriptional enhancer-binding factors. These factors cooperate with co-activators to initiate transcription by the RNA polymerase II complex.
The encoded protein is a subunit of the CRSP (cofactor required for SP1 activation) complex, essential for SP1-mediated transcriptional activation. It is also part of other multisubunit complexes such as thyroid hormone receptor (TR)-associated proteins, which facilitate TR function on DNA templates in conjunction with cofactors.
This protein contains a bipartite nuclear localization signal and is known to escape chromosome X-inactivation.
