EIF2a (Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2A)는 α, β, γ 세 개의 소단위체로 구성된 이형삼합체입니다. 이 인자는 개시 메티오닐-tRNA를 40S 리보솜에 결합시켜 43S 개시 복합체를 형성하는 역할을 합니다. EIF2A는 스트레스 반응 시 관련 단백질 키나아제에 의해 인산화될 수 있으며, 인산화된 EIF2A는 EIF2B 활성을 억제하여 구아닌 뉴클레오타이드 교환을 차단합니다.
