Product Specific Information
- In sandwich ELISAs, approximately 50% cross-reactivity with recombinant rat TNF-alpha and less than 1% with recombinant human TNF-alpha.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level: <0.10 EU per 1 µg antibody (LAL method).
Target Information
TNF alpha is a multifunctional proinflammatory cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily. It is mainly secreted by macrophages and binds to receptors TNFRSF1A/TNFR1 and TNFRSF1B/TNFBR. TNF alpha regulates immune cell functions, cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, lipid metabolism, and coagulation.
It exists as multimers (two to five noncovalently linked units) but shows a single 17 kDa band under non-reducing SDS-PAGE conditions. Knockout studies in mice indicate its neuroprotective role and tumor necrosis induction. TNF alpha also contributes to immune responses against bacterial, viral, parasitic, and fungal infections and plays a role in tumor cytolysis or cytostasis, synergistic with interferon-gamma. It is implicated in autoimmune diseases, insulin resistance, and cancer.
