Product Specific Information

RP-43095 contains native human Activated Protein C protein.
RP-43095 may be used as a positive control in many immunological assays.
The product is of human blood/plasma origin. Although the starting material was tested prior to initiation of the manufacturing process and found negative or nonreactive for anti-HIV-1/2, HIV-1 antigen(s), HBsAg, STS, anti-HCV, anti-HBcore, and anti-HTLV I & II, extreme caution should be used when handling this material as there is a margin of error in all tests.
This product is to be used for in vitro research purposes only, and is not intended for clinical or diagnostic use.

Target Information

Protein C is a vitamin K-dependent plasma glycoprotein that is cleaved to its activated form by the thrombin-thrombomodulin complex. In its activated form, Protein C contains a serine protease domain and functions in degradation of the activated forms of coagulation factors V and VIII.
Protein C is produced in the liver and consists of two polypeptide chains. The 62 kDa proenzyme is activated by thrombin bound to an endothelial surface receptor, and the active enzyme cleaves factor Va and VIIIa to inhibit blood coagulation.
The molecular weight of the active enzyme is approximately 55 kDa, and its normal concentration in human plasma is about 1–3 ng/mL due to rapid turnover. The proenzyme concentration is approximately 3 µg/mL.
Mutations in the Protein C gene are associated with thrombophilia due to protein C deficiency, neonatal purpura fulminans, and recurrent venous thrombosis.

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
