For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of about 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

Lens proteins consist almost entirely of crystallins (about 95%), which are also found in vertebrate skeletal muscle tissue.
Crystallins maintain the proper refractive index of the lens. The mammalian lens contains three major classes: alpha, beta, and gamma.
Alpha-crystallin is composed of two primary gene products, alpha-A and alpha-B, and represents about 40% of total lens protein.
It functions as a molecular chaperone, preventing aggregation that may lead to cataract formation.
Phosphorylated states of alpha-crystallin respond to cellular stress and may play roles in structural control and protein maintenance.
Alpha-B crystallin has been linked to Alexander’s disease, where it accumulates in brain cells.
