Target Information
CD79a is a disulphide-linked heterodimer that includes the B29 (CD79b) polypeptide. It functions as part of the B lymphocyte antigen receptor complex, associating with immunoglobulin molecules (Ig) along with Ig-alpha and Ig-beta, which are essential for receptor expression and signaling.
CD79a expression begins at the pre-B cell stage and continues through the plasma cell stage, where it becomes intracellular. It is found in most precursor B-cell acute leukemias, B-cell lines, B-cell lymphomas, and some myelomas, but is absent in myeloid or T-cell lines.
Diseases associated with CD79a include Agammaglobulinemia 3 and Non-Bruton type Agammaglobulinemia.
