이 패밀리의 단백질들은 프로펩타이드 영역, 메탈로프로테아제 도메인, 디스인터그린 유사 도메인, 그리고 thrombospondin type 1 (TS) 모티프를 포함합니다.
ADAMTS13 효소는 von Willebrand Factor (vWF)-cleaving protease로서 vWF 분자의 Tyr842–Met843 부위를 절단합니다.
이 효소의 결핍은 혈전성 혈소판감소성 자반증(thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura)과 관련이 있습니다.
