This antibody detects endogenous levels of total FAM3A protein.
Target Information
FAM3A belongs to a novel cytokine-like gene family identified through structure-based searches for four-helix-bundle cytokines in genomic databases. The family includes FAM3A, FAM3B, FAM3C, and FAM3D, each encoding a protein of 224–235 amino acids with a hydrophobic leader sequence.
Northern analysis shows:
- FAM3B: highly expressed in pancreas
- FAM3D: highly expressed in placenta
- FAM3A and FAM3C: expressed in most tissues
Immunohistochemistry indicates FAM3A is prominently expressed in vascular endothelium, particularly in capillaries, and shows staining in the endocardium of the heart and other vascular tissues.
