Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of Cyclin E1 only when phosphorylated at Ser73.
Target Information
Cyclin E belongs to the highly conserved cyclin family, characterized by periodic changes in protein abundance through the cell cycle. Cyclins regulate CDK kinases, and distinct cyclins show specific expression and degradation patterns that coordinate mitotic events.
Cyclin E forms a complex with CDK2, essential for the G1/S phase transition. It accumulates at the G1–S boundary and is degraded during S phase. Overexpression of Cyclin E has been observed in many tumors, contributing to chromosomal instability and tumorigenesis.
Cyclin E associates with NPAT, a nuclear protein involved in histone gene expression and cell cycle progression. Multiple splice variants of Cyclin E have been reported.
