Target Information
This gene encodes a protein known as a hematopoietic cell granule proteoglycan. Proteoglycans stored in secretory granules of hematopoietic cells contain a protease-resistant peptide core, which may neutralize hydrolytic enzymes. The encoded protein is associated with the macromolecular complex of granzymes and perforin, potentially mediating granule-induced apoptosis. Two transcript variants have been identified, only one of which is protein-coding.
