Target Information
The Jagged1 protein encoded by JAG1 is the human homolog of the Drosophila jagged protein. It serves as a ligand for the receptor Notch1, the human homolog of the Drosophila notch receptor.
Mutations in Jagged1 cause Alagille syndrome. Jagged1–Notch1 signaling also plays a key role in hematopoiesis.
