Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine specifically induced by apoptosis, involved in the regulation of angiogenesis, inflammation, and wound healing. It sensitizes tumor-associated vasculature to tumor necrosis factor. The precursor protein corresponds to the p43 subunit of the multi-tRNA synthetase complex and modulates aminoacylation activity in normal cells. It also stimulates inflammatory responses after proteolytic cleavage in tumor cells. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms exist, and a pseudogene is located on chromosome 20.
