Target Information
This gene encodes a component of SCF complexes, which consist of SKP1, cullin 1, a ring-box protein, and one member of the F-box family. SKP1 binds directly to the F-box motif found in F-box proteins. SCF complexes regulate ubiquitination of specific substrates, targeting them for proteasomal degradation. Many SCF substrates are known, including regulators of cell cycle and development. The protein also functions as an RNA polymerase II elongation factor. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants, and a related pseudogene is located on chromosome 7.
