This antibody detects endogenous levels of AXL only when phosphorylated at Tyr698.
Target Information
AXL is a chronic myelogenous leukemia-associated oncogene also linked to colon cancer and melanoma. It encodes a receptor tyrosine kinase that transduces signals from the extracellular matrix into the cytoplasm by binding growth factors such as the vitamin K-dependent protein GAS6. AXL is involved in cell proliferation and phagocytosis of apoptotic cells through TAM receptor pathways. Deficiency in TAM receptors can result in degenerative phenotypes and autoimmune-like conditions similar to systemic lupus erythematosus. AXL may also act as an entry receptor for filoviruses and serves as a marker for certain dendritic cell subsets. Its expression can be upregulated by TLR ligands like LPS or poly I:C. Soluble AXL, generated via proteolytic cleavage, may indicate inflammation or cancer when elevated in plasma.
