HYOU1는 heat shock protein 70 패밀리에 속하며, 단백질 접힘과 분비 조절에 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 단백질 발현 억제 시 세포사멸이 촉진되어, 저산소 유도 세포 스트레스에서 세포 보호 기능을 수행하는 것으로 추정됩니다. 또한 유방암 등 종양에서 발현이 증가하며 종양 침습성과 연관이 있습니다. 신호 펩타이드가 없는 이 단백질은 세포질에서 항상성 유지 기능을 가지며, 소포체와 미토콘드리아에 모두 위치할 수 있습니다.
