Target Information
Histamine H2 receptor (HRH2) stimulates adenylate cyclase activity and promotes acid release in the stomach. It also plays roles in gastrointestinal motility and intestinal secretion. Inhibition of HRH2 activity forms the basis for treatments of acid-peptic disorders. The 3'-untranslated region may regulate differential expression. HRH2 expression has been observed in bone marrow, brain, heart, lymph node, nose, placenta, spinal cord, and stomach. An EST has been isolated from a kidney library.
