Target Information
SFPQ (also known as PSF) encodes a nuclear factor involved in RNA splicing and gene expression regulation. It likely forms a heteromer with NONO and participates in DNA pairing and repair.
Recent studies identified SFPQ as a downstream target of tau, showing nuclear depletion and cytoplasmic accumulation in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) brains. Reduced SFPQ levels correlate with tau pathology, suggesting a key role in neurodegenerative diseases including AD.
SFPQ protein may appear as 47, 52, or 100 kDa forms in various cell types.
