Target Information
Type I interferons (IFN-alpha, IFN-beta) are structurally and functionally related proteins induced by viruses or double-stranded RNA. They confer antiviral states in cells and bind to a common receptor distinct from IFN-gamma receptors. IFN-alpha/betaR is expressed as two alternatively spliced transcripts, IFN-alpha/betaR1 and IFN-alpha/betaR2, both involved in ligand binding and signal transduction.
