Antibody detects endogenous levels of total TXK.

Target Information

TXK, along with the close relatives BMS, ITK, and BTK, signal downstream of antigen receptors and other receptor types. All members of the family contain SH3 and SH2 domains and, except for Txk and Dsrc28C, also contain pleckstrin homology (PH) and Tec homology (TH) domains in their amino termini. Four alternatively spliced forms of Tec are expressed broadly in hematopoietic cells and hepatocytes. The Emt gene product associates with CD28 and becomes activated after CD28 ligation. Btk is essential for proper B cell development, and mutations in Btk cause X-linked agammaglobulinemia (Bruton’s disease). The Bmx protein shares high homology with Btk and is highly expressed in the heart. Txk expression is T cell-specific, while the Drosophila Tec homolog Dsrc28C is developmentally regulated.
