Target Information
FLIP (CFLAR) is an apoptosis regulator protein acting as a crucial link between cell survival and cell death pathways in mammalian cells. It inhibits TNFRSF6-mediated apoptosis, with a proteolytic fragment (p43) retained in the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC), blocking recruitment and processing of caspase-8. Full-length and shorter isoforms can either induce or reduce TNFRSF-triggered apoptosis. This protein lacks enzymatic (caspase) activity.
