CDH9 (cadherin-9)는 cadherin superfamily에 속하는 type II classical cadherin으로, 칼슘 의존적 세포-세포 부착을 매개하는 막단백질입니다.
성숙한 cadherin 단백질은 다음과 같은 구조를 가집니다:

• N-말단의 큰 세포외 도메인
• 단일 막관통 도메인
• 보존된 C-말단 세포질 도메인

세포외 도메인은 5개의 cadherin motif를 포함하며, 단백질의 상동적 세포 부착 특이성을 결정합니다.
Type II cadherin은 type I cadherin에 존재하는 HAV 인식 서열이 결여되어 있는 것이 특징입니다.
