Antibody detects endogenous levels of total WNT16.
Target Information
The WNT gene family consists of structurally related genes encoding secreted signaling proteins. These proteins are involved in oncogenesis and various developmental processes, including regulation of cell fate and patterning during embryogenesis.
This gene, a member of the WNT family, contains two transcript variants diverging at the 5′ termini. These variants are proposed to be products of separate promoters, not splice variants. They are differentially expressed:
- Variant 2: Expressed significantly in the pancreas.
- Variant 1: Expressed more ubiquitously, with highest levels in adult kidney, placenta, brain, heart, and spleen.
WNT16 is also a ligand for members of the frizzled family of seven-transmembrane receptors.
