Target Information
STAG3 is a meiosis-specific component of the cohesin complex. This complex is essential for sister chromatid cohesion following DNA replication.
The cohesin complex forms a large ring-like structure that traps sister chromatids.
During anaphase, the complex is cleaved and dissociates from chromatin, enabling chromatid segregation.
The meiosis-specific cohesin complex likely replaces the mitosis-specific version during prophase I.
