Target Information
The SPARC gene encodes a cysteine-rich acidic matrix-associated protein. This protein is essential for collagen calcification in bone and plays a role in extracellular matrix synthesis and modulation of cell shape. It has been linked to both tumor suppression and metastasis due to its influence on cell morphology and invasion. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
