Wishful thinking (wit) gene는 Drosophila에서 vertebrate BMP type II receptor의 상동체입니다.
wit 유전자 변이는 pharate lethality를 유발하며, motor neuron에서 wit transgene 발현으로 구조적 및 기능적 결함이 부분적으로 복원될 수 있습니다.
Mutant larvae는 작은 시냅스, evoked junctional potential의 결함, 자발적 소포 방출 빈도 감소, 그리고 시냅스 활성 영역의 초미세 구조 변화가 관찰됩니다.
