PLK1 (Polo-like kinase 1)은 세린/트레오닌 키나아제로서 세포 분열 과정에서 중요한 역할을 하며, 세포 증식의 지표로 알려져 있습니다.
이 단백질은 암 발생 과정에서 핵심적인 기능을 수행하며, POLO box domain을 통해 이미 인산화된 단백질을 인식하고 추가 인산화를 유도합니다.
PLK1은 BORA, BUB1B/BUBR1, CCNB1, CDC25C, CEP55, ECT2, ERCC6L, FBXO5/EMI1, FOXM1, KIF20A/MKLP2, CENPU, NEDD1, NINL, NPM1, NUDC, PKMYT1/MYT1, KIZ, PPP1R12A/MYPT1, PRC1, RACGAP1/CYK4, SGOL1, STAG2/SA2, TEX14, TOPORS, p73/TP73, TPT1, WEE1 등의 단백질을 인산화합니다.
또한 KIZ, NEDD1, NINL을 인산화하여 중심체 기능과 양극성 방추체 형성에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
