SYNPO (Synaptopodin)은 telencephalic dendrites와 renal podocytes에 존재하는 actin-associated 단백질입니다. 이 단백질은 dendritic spine apparatus와 밀접하게 연관되어 있으며, SYNPO 유전자가 결핍된 마우스는 해당 apparatus가 결여되어 있습니다. 이러한 SYNPO 결핍 마우스는 장기강화(LTP) 발현 능력 저하 및 공간 기억 손상을 보이며, 이는 SYNPO가 시냅스 가소성 조절에 관여함을 시사합니다. 최근 연구에서는 SYNPO가 신경세포의 칼슘 저장소와 연관되어 장기적 가소성 조절에 중요한 역할을 함을 보고하고 있습니다.
