Product Specific Information
This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, chicken, human, mouse, Xenopus, and zebrafish based on 100% sequence homology.
It specifically detects the ~87 kDa MARCKS protein phosphorylated at Ser152 and Ser156 in Western blots of rat brain homogenates.
Immunolabeling is blocked by the phosphopeptide used as the antigen but not by the corresponding dephosphopeptide.
Target Information
MARCKS is a substrate for protein kinase C and is localized to the plasma membrane as an actin filament crosslinking protein.
Phosphorylation by protein kinase C or binding to calcium-calmodulin inhibits its association with actin and the plasma membrane, resulting in cytoplasmic localization.
The protein plays roles in cell motility, phagocytosis, membrane trafficking, and mitogenesis.
