PDHB (Pyruvate dehydrogenase E1 component subunit beta, mitochondrial)
Also known as PHE1B, this enzyme is a component of the pyruvate dehydrogenase multienzyme complex (PDH) located in mitochondria. It catalyzes the first reaction in the oxidative decarboxylation sequence converting pyruvate to acetyl-CoA and CO₂.
Defects in PDHB are associated with pyruvate dehydrogenase E1-beta deficiency (PDHBD).
