Target Information
STRAP is a 350-amino-acid MAP activator with WD-40 repeats localized in both the cytoplasm and nucleus.
It functions as an inhibitor of TGF-beta signaling and regulates cell proliferation.
Stable expression activates MAPK/ERK pathways and downregulates p21 (Cip1), leading to retinoblastoma protein hyperphosphorylation.
Upregulation of STRAP may play a role in early tumor development, particularly in colorectal cancers.
It is the first component of the U snRNP assembly machinery associated with the SMN complex and is crucial for intracellular SMN1 distribution.
