Target Information
The three KINDLINs are a novel family of focal adhesion proteins that localize to integrin adhesion sites. The KINDLIN proteins contain a centrally located FERM domain interrupted by a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain.
KINDLIN1 and KINDLIN2 are essential for integrin-mediated adhesion and spreading, whereas KINDLIN3 is restricted to hematopoietic cells and is abundant in megakaryocytes and platelets.
Dysregulation of KINDLINs has been reported in various cancers. KINDLIN3 is essential for platelet integrin activation and outside-in signaling, making it a potential therapeutic target for modulating integrin activation in platelets and leukocytes.
