Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
The inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) family of proteins regulates programmed cell death triggered by various stimuli. All IAPs possess at least one baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) motif essential for their anti-apoptotic activity.
Livin (also known as ML-IAP) is a novel human IAP family member containing a single BIR domain and a COOH-terminal RING finger domain. The Livin gene has two splicing variants (298 and 280 amino acids) that both include BIR and RING domains. Both isoforms inhibit TNFα-induced apoptosis in Jurkat cells. Livin expression is low in adult tissues but higher in developmental tissues and many cancer cells.
