Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.

Target Information

This gene encodes a transmembrane receptor referred to as DC-SIGN, expressed on dendritic cells and macrophages. The protein participates in innate immunity and recognizes diverse pathogens including parasites and viruses.
It consists of three domains: an N-terminal transmembrane domain, a tandem-repeat neck domain, and a C-type lectin carbohydrate recognition domain.
The extracellular region functions as both pathogen recognition and cell adhesion receptor. The neck domain mediates homo-oligomerization, enhancing multivalent ligand binding.
Variations in the neck domain repeats affect ligand binding ability. This gene is closely related to L-SIGN (GeneID 10332), differing in ligand-binding and tissue distribution.
Alternative splicing yields multiple variants.
