Target Information

CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and has two Ig-like domains. It is expressed on nearly all peripheral B cells defined by kappa or lambda light chain expression. CD19 is also found on some myeloid leukemia cells, particularly of monocytic lineage. It is considered the earliest and broadest B cell-restricted antigen.

The CD19 receptor acts as an important regulator of normal and malignant B cell proliferation and is expressed in all B cell precursor leukemias. It functions as a signal-amplifying coreceptor for the B cell receptor (BCR) and can also signal independently. Mutations in the CD19 gene can lead to hypogammaglobulinemia, while overexpression can cause B cell hyperactivity.
