Product Specific Information
This LP3K monoclonal antibody reacts with human cytokeratin 8 (K8), a 55-kDa intermediate filament protein expressed in epithelial and carcinoma cells. Cytokeratin 8, a type II keratin, contributes to cellular integrity and stability and is involved in apoptosis protection and cell cycle regulation. It is often co-expressed with cytokeratin 18, forming heterodimers. In tumor cells, cytokeratin 8 can localize to the plasma membrane and is phosphorylated on serine 73 in dividing cells.
- Applications Reported: Immunofluorescent microscopy
- Applications Tested: Immunofluorescent staining of methanol-fixed MCF-7 cells (≤10 µg/mL recommended; titration advised)
- Excitation: 488 nm
- Emission: 520 nm
- Laser: Blue Laser
- Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered
Target Information
Cytokeratin 8 belongs to the type II keratin family located on chromosome 12. It forms intermediate-sized filaments with type I keratin (keratin 18) in epithelial cells, maintaining structural integrity and participating in signal transduction and differentiation. Mutations in this gene are associated with cryptogenic cirrhosis.
