Target Information
Fox-3, also known as NeuN, HRNBP3, or RBFOX3 (RNA binding protein, fox-1 homolog C), is a 350 amino acid protein containing one RRM (RNA recognition motif) domain. It localizes to both the nucleus and cytoplasm and is involved in regulating alternative splicing events.
The Fox-3 gene is located on human chromosome 17, which encodes over 1,200 genes and includes key tumor suppressor genes such as p53 and BRCA1.
- p53: Maintains genomic integrity by regulating DNA repair and apoptosis; its loss is associated with malignant cell growth and Li-Fraumeni syndrome.
- BRCA1: Involved in DNA repair and associated with early-onset breast, ovarian, colon, prostate, and fallopian tube cancers.
