Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Factor XIa/F11.
Target Information
This gene encodes coagulation factor XI of the blood coagulation cascade. The protein exists in plasma as a homodimer of two identical polypeptide chains linked by disulfide bonds. Upon activation by factor XIIa, internal peptide bonds are cleaved, producing activated factor XIa, a serine protease composed of two heavy and two light chains. Activated factor XI triggers the intrinsic pathway of blood coagulation by activating factor IX. Defects in this factor cause Rosenthal syndrome, a blood coagulation disorder.
