Target Information
The 4.1 gene family encodes multifunctional cytoskeletal proteins (4.1R, 4.1G, 4.1N, and 4.1B), primarily expressed in the nervous system.
- 4.1G stabilizes spectrin-actin interactions and is associated with hereditary elliptocytosis.
- 4.1R maintains erythrocyte shape and membrane mechanical properties.
- 4.1N (EPB41L1) and 4.1B (EPB41L3) are highly expressed in the brain and contribute to neuronal membrane stability.
Antibodies against these proteins are useful for studying cytoskeletal organization and neuronal cell structure.
