Target Information
The anaphase-promoting complex (APC), also known as the cyclosome, facilitates the metaphase-anaphase transition by ubiquitinating specific substrates such as mitotic cyclins and the anaphase inhibitor. These substrates are subsequently degraded by the 26S proteasome. Vertebrate APC is known to contain eight subunits.
