Target Information
Cell-mediated immune responses are initiated by T lymphocytes stimulated by peptides bound to MHC molecules on antigen-presenting cells (APC). Activated T cells express inhibitory receptors such as PD-1 (PDCD-1), which bind ligands PDL-1 and PDL-2 to downregulate immune activation in the absence of danger signals. PD-1 deficiency leads to hyperactivated immune responses and autoimmune disease. PD-1 often migrates at higher molecular weight in SDS-PAGE than predicted.
