Target Information
UBA6 (also known as UBE1L2, MOP-4) is a novel E1 enzyme specific for ubiquitin and belongs to the ubiquitin-activating E1 family. It participates in the ubiquitin conjugation cascade by adenylating the carboxy-terminal glycine residue of ubiquitin with ATP, then forming a thioester bond between ubiquitin and E1 cysteine residue. UBA6 isoforms influence spermatogenesis and male fertility, and UBA6 is highly expressed in human monocytes.
