Specificity: This antibody binds to CD63 on monocytes and activated neutrophils.

Target Information

CD63 (LAMP-3, lysosome-associated membrane protein-3) is a glycoprotein of the tetraspanin family found in late endosomes, lysosomes, and secretory vesicles of various cell types. It is also present on the plasma membrane following cell activation and is widely used as a basophil activation marker.
CD63 interacts with integrins, affecting phagocytosis and cell migration, and participates in regulation of H/K-ATPase trafficking and ROMK1 channels. It also serves as a T-cell costimulation molecule and can be used as a prognostic marker in early carcinomas.
CD63 is expressed on activated platelets, monocytes, and macrophages, and weakly on granulocytes, B, and T cells. It is identical to melanoma-associated antigen ME491 and platelet antigen PTLGP40.
Diseases associated with CD63 dysfunction include melanoma and Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome.
