Product Specific Information

Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

This antibody is directed against human CENP-E protein and was purified from tissue culture supernatant by chromatography. The antibody reacts with CENP-E from human cells. Reactivity against homologues from other species has not been determined.

Target Information

14-3-3 sigma (stratifin, SFN, epithelial cell marker protein 1) is a member of a highly conserved family of 14-3-3 proteins present in all eukaryotic organisms. There are seven known mammalian isoforms (epsilon, beta, zeta, gamma, theta, tau, and sigma), which play important roles in various signaling cascades by altering subcellular localization and stability of key molecules.

14-3-3 sigma was originally identified as a human mammary epithelium marker and later recognized as a key regulator of the cell cycle checkpoint. It has been reported as a prognostic marker for pancreatic cancer survival. It is the only 14-3-3 isoform induced by p53 in response to DNA damage, acting as a p53-regulated inhibitor of G2/M progression and functioning as a tumor suppressor gene that can be inactivated by methylation in epithelial tumor cells. Two isoforms of human 14-3-3 sigma are produced by alternative splicing.
