AGPAT9 encodes a lysophosphatidic acid acyltransferase enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of glycerol-3-phosphate to lysophosphatidic acid, a key step in triacylglycerol synthesis.
Multiple alternatively spliced variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
