Product Specific Information

The eBioC1.7 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD244 (2B4, p38). CD244 is a 38 kDa protein expressed on NK cells, subsets of CD8+ T cells, γδ T cells, monocytes, basophils, and eosinophils. Binding of the CD244 ligand CD48 results in NK cell activation, enhancing cytotoxicity and IFN-γ secretion. C1.7 binding induces tyrosine phosphorylation and recruitment of the adaptor molecule SAP (SLAM-associated protein). Patients with X-linked lymphoproliferative disorder (XLPD) have SAP mutations that prevent its binding to phosphorylated CD244.

Applications Reported: Suitable for flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested on normal human peripheral blood cells, recommended use at 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test (final volume 100 µL).
Laser: Violet (405 nm), Emission at 436 nm.
Recommended Filter: 450/50 bandpass or equivalent.
Use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401) when combining multiple Super Bright dye-conjugated antibodies to minimize non-specific polymer interactions.

Target Information

CD244 (2B4, SLAMF4) is a cell surface receptor expressed on NK cells and some T cells, mediating non-MHC restricted cytotoxicity. Interaction with SLAMF2 modulates NK-cell activity. Reduced SLAMF4 expression is observed in systemic lupus erythematosus, suggesting a role in autoimmune pathology. CD244 dysfunction is associated with rheumatoid arthritis and lymphoproliferative syndrome. Alternative splicing generates different isoforms.
