Product Specific Information

1 µg/mL of MA5-27653 was sufficient for detection of KCNQ4 in 10 µg of COS-1 cell lysate transiently expressing KCNQ4 by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 77 kDa.

Target Information

The protein encoded by the KCNQ4 gene forms a potassium channel that plays a critical role in regulating neuronal excitability, particularly in sensory cells of the cochlea. The channel current is inhibited by M1 muscarinic acetylcholine receptors and activated by retigabine, an anti-convulsant drug. The encoded protein can form homomultimeric or heteromultimeric potassium channels with KCNQ3. Mutations in this gene cause nonsyndromic sensorineural deafness type 2, an autosomal dominant progressive hearing loss. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
