Target Information
Chemokines play critical roles in inflammation and recruitment of effector immune cells to infection sites. These molecules activate leukocytes via G protein-coupled receptors, mainly divided into CXCR and CCR groups.
CCR1, one of the CCR receptors, is expressed on neutrophils, monocytes, lymphocytes, and eosinophils. It binds macrophage-inflammatory protein (MIP-1α), eotaxin, and other related chemokines. Mice lacking CCR1 show defects in neutrophil trafficking and proliferation.
