Product Specific Information
This peptide corresponds to an 18 amino acid sequence near the carboxy terminus of human SELK.
PEP-1462 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-34420.
Target Information
SELK is a selenoprotein containing a selenocysteine residue at its active site. It is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum and highly expressed in the heart, where it may function as an antioxidant.
SELK interacts with ER-associated degradation (ERAD) components such as p97 ATPase, Derlin-1 and -2, SelS, and oligosaccharyltransferase complex proteins, suggesting involvement in Derlin-dependent ERAD of glycosylated misfolded proteins.
It also plays a role in Ca²⁺ flux regulation in immune cells and is cleaved by m-calpain in resting macrophages. Activation through Toll-like receptors inhibits this cleavage.
