Target Information
The PPP2R2A gene encodes a regulatory subunit of protein phosphatase 2 (PP2A), a major serine/threonine phosphatase involved in negative regulation of cell growth and division. PP2A is a heteromeric enzyme composed of a catalytic and a constant regulatory subunit, which associates with various regulatory subunits. The B regulatory subunit modulates substrate selectivity and catalytic activity. PPP2R2A represents the alpha isoform of the B55 subfamily. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
